“I’m Preparing For Everything For Jofra Archer”- Rob Key On Future Of Star Pacer

England men’s team’s director of cricket Rob Key has said that he wishes pacer Jofra Archer will be back in action soon for England and he is doing everything possible for his smooth return to the game. Archer was part of England’s 2019 World Cup winning team, but injuries have derailed his career a bit.

Barbados-born Archer, one of the fastest bowlers in the world today was fast-tracked into the England side in 2019 just ahead of the World cup at home, given his talent with the ball and ability to swing at high speed.

But unfortunately, he has missed out on a majority of the past few months due to injury. In fact, Archer hasn’t made an appearance for England since March 2021. This is because he was forced to undergo two separate surgeries for a long-standing problem in his elbow.

Jofra Archer was supposed to return to action for Sussex in the Vitality T20 Blast but was ruled out of the entire summer due to a stress fracture injury on his back. Archer, in an interview, had said that he might return to the game in September and even teased a return to the England squad for the T20 World Cup in October.

However, there have been concerns as to whether the right-arm pacer can ever be back in action for Test matches. However, England’s Managing Director Rob Key has said that Jofra Archer will be back as England are a better team in all three formats with the fast bowler in the lineup.

“I am hopeful he will be involved in everything. Unless there’s someone knows a lot more about backs and injuries I am not going to change my view on that. We don’t have to look that far ahead,” Key was quoted as saying by timesnownews.
