Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team is set to lock horns with Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
India won back-to-back games in the Asia Cup 2022 group stage round to advance to the Super 4 stage of the multi-nation tournament. The Men In Blue defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in their tournament opener and Hong Kong by 40 runs in the second game.
Meanwhile, on Friday, dominant Pakistan defeated Hong Kong at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium by 155 runs in their first-ever T20I meeting to secure a place in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup.
Indian Pacer Avesh Khan Has Viral Fever
According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, young pacer Avesh Khan has a viral fever and he hasn’t come out of the hotel room for two days. A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official told Dainik Bhaskar that the pacer doesn’t appear to be in playing condition and the medical team is working with him.
Also, the same report suggests that the right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar, who is one of the stand-by players, could be called up to the main squad if Avesh is not fully fit to compete.
Talking further about Avesh, the Madhya Pradesh speedster has failed to impress with the bowl in the Asia Cup. In the match against Pakistan, he bowled 2 overs, conceded 19 runs and picked up the wicket of Fakhar Zaman. In India’s second game against Hong Kong, the pacer was very expensive as he gave away 53 runs in his 4-over quota.
Overall, Avesh has played 15 T20Is for India National Cricket Team and has bagged 13 wickets at an average of 32.46, an economy of 9.10 and a strike rate of 21.3.
